**JoBoxers had the hits, the energy and a distinctive style. So what went wrong — and what happened to the music they left behind?**
Chris Bostock, bassist and songwriter with JoBoxers, joins Steve Blame to tell the remarkable story of the band behind **“Boxerbeat”** and **“Just Got Lucky”**, and his years-long search to recover their lost recordings.
From a musical childhood in Bristol and the explosion of punk to supporting The Clash, playing with Vic Godard's Subway Sect and the extraordinary Club Left scene, Chris recalls how a group of musicians came together with American singer Dig Wayne to create JoBoxers.
Their combination of soul, punk, rockabilly and infectious live energy made them one of the most distinctive British bands of the early 1980s. But behind the success, changes in management, record-company problems and the departure of key members brought the band's momentum to a halt.
Chris reveals how two albums were left unreleased, how the band dealt with its breakup, and why he spent years tracking down missing master tapes — eventually recovering recordings from Sony, Hansa Studios in Berlin and even Stuart Matthewman's loft.
He also shares stories of working with **Paul Weller and The Style Council**, **Sandie Shaw**, **Spear of Destiny** and **Dave Stewart's Spiritual Cowboys**, including extraordinary encounters with some of rock's biggest names.
And we discover why the JoBoxers legacy still matters — not simply because of the hits, but because of the music that almost disappeared.
