Her career spans 7 decades, starting off as an Ikette with Ike & Tina Turner in 1965. Just over a year later she came to London as part of the Ike and Tina revue, supporting the Rolling Stones, and launched her own solo career on Andrew Oldham's (the then Stones manager) label. Her hits were The First Cut is the Deepest and Angel of the Morning. Her story, which you read in her best-selling autobiography ‘Soul Survivor’, is summed up by her at the end of the book "I’m a thriving soul survivor still going strong". And the woman who survived abuse at the hands of her first husband, and by Ike Turner, who had affairs with Mick Jagger, and Jimi Hendrix, and who experienced the highs and lows of the music business is indeed still going strong.

Last year, she released a seasonal single, ‘It Won’t Be Christmas Without You’, produced by Mark Taylor & Patrick Mascall for Metrophonic Production Ltd.,which has a Phil Spector-type sound.

She has had a fascinating life, and this interview is really a survivor's story.
