During the mid-1980s, Marillion - with lead singer FISH they were rarely out of the charts, and during his time in the band, they had 11 Top Ten UK singles and 5 Top Ten albums, later his solo career included 5 Top 40 singles, and a Top Ten album.

In 2020 when this interview was recorded, he released his last studio album - WELTSCHMERZ.
