Suzi Quatro
21m 27sBack on tour. Back with 2 new albums. An album with KT Tunstall. A book of poetry. And a new tour - Suzi Quatro is one impressive artist.
Her first solo self-titled album was released in 1973. Since then, she has sold 55 million records worldwide. 'Can the Can' and 'Devil's Gate Drive' were among her massive hits in Britain, Europe, and Australia. It was almost 50 years ago that this solo rocker broke through the glass ceiling and opened the door for other female rockers. Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club), Joan Jett, and Chrissie Hynde (Pretenders) all cite Suzi as an essential influence.
In this UPDATE interview, she talks about all the new things going on, even er relationship with Rainer, her manager, and her husband.
For the full DEEP DIVE interview, you can hear about her early days, and the first major influence in her life - Elvis Presley, and how she realized through him that rock n' roll was her calling. The bands she had with her sisters, how she was discovered by Mickie Most, the Xmas she received a tape from her family that was anything but complimentary, and the string of hits - and much more!
